The
bigger, the better
They also help to get drier signals when recording instruments. All microphone signals benefit, which becomes especially apparent during editing, mixing and applying effects. Moreover, screens help to prevent sound sources from bleeding into microphones. As the name suggests, the t.bone MicScreen XL is the largest version in the range of the t.bone screens. It is 32 centimetres in height and spans up to 80 centimetres.
Five segments
The t.bone MicScreen XL consists of five segments that form a half circle. Each of the segments has a perforated metal plate structure with an acoustic membrane and a layer of acoustic pyramid foam, which absorbs a lot of sonic energy. The segments are hinge-mounted, so the screen can be freely arranged to meet the demands of the recording situation and the microphone used. For instance, it can be acoustically beneficial to use an asymmetrical screen. The flexibility of the MicScreen XL also allows you to set it up in a way that ensures it doesn’t end up in the frame while filming a video.
Doubles as a table screen
The t.bone MicScreen XL attaches by means of a double clamp on its back. This makes it easy to mount it on the pole of a microphone stand or similiar items. But there is another way to use the screen: Instead of using the mounting bracket on the back, the screen can be positioned directly on a table. This is why it has three large rubber feet on the bottom of the structure. The microphone holder or shock mount bolt onto a tube that is attached to a rail. Thereby, the distance between microphone and the MicScreen XL is easily adjustable.
