Headset Microphones

This category contains headset and earset microphones. Headset microphones are small electret or dynamic microphones used for television, theatre, and public speaking applications, in order to allow hands-free operation. Specially-designed skin-color headsets known as "headworn microphones" are used in stage applications when actors spend a good deal of their performance singing and moving around quickly (such as in stage musicals and in lecture or presentation scenarios). A headworn microphone is essentially a lavalier on a stiff wire mount which loops over the talent's ear. A headset consists of a neck brace with two ear hangers and a microphone boom. Both the brace and boom can be adjusted for optimum fit and comfort. Most manufacturers offer both omni and cardioid versions of their earsets. One of the most appealing benefits of an earset mic is that it stays in one place when worn properly, so regardless of whether the user moves his or her head, the mic stays at the same location. They are common to all auditoria, churches, rooms for education, conference rooms, courtrooms, or theaters as well as used by a performing singer on stage.
